Happy New Year!

So we made it to yet another year. Happy 2012! I hope that you enjoyed your most likely, much needed holiday break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and the daily grind at work. I know I did, I took some time to enjoy with family and friends! As much as I was sad to see the holidays come and go so quickly, I was also relieved when I woke up the day after Christmas with what felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Most importantly, aside from the wrapping paper, ribbons and bows was my wonderful family and friends shining through. We had a great...

Educational Toys (Review and Give-Away)

On our most recent trip to Toys R’ Us in Clifton Park we had the opportunity to explore the aisle of educational learning toys. The selection can be quite overwhelming, not just for a child but for a parent as well. There are so many different toys that it can make the process of finding the perfect educational toy seem impossible. As I was walking through the aisle with Gavin, I was...

Drum Roll…

Monday night we finally broke down and went out in search of the perfect tree. We debated and I even asked all of you for your greatly appreciated opinions on what the perfect tree was, live or artificial? I wanted to stop at Hewitt’s Garden Center to walk through the winter wonderland there with Gavin. As we walked through the parking lot and into the forest of Christmas trees the amazing smell of fresh pine was so overwhelming and brought back great memories of the tradition of getting...

Fake or Real???

In my last post, I mentioned there was something stirring up torn emotions in our house. Well, that would be our tree! We are both on the same page but we have torn emotions about what kind of tree we should get. We can’t decide between an artificial tree or a live tree. Since Tim and I have been together, we have always picked out a live tree to decorate, even last year for Gavin’s 1st Christmas we went with a live tree (but Gavin was immobile). This year with Gavin on the constant move and always climbing,...

As I Watch…I Clearly Remember

Let me start off with I had a totally different topic for today that has been causing quite torn emotions in our house, that I was anxious to ask my readers for their opinion, but that will have to wait for another day…don’t worry I’ll ask soon so stay tuned. Now on to today’s topic… So it was 1am, I just closed up my laptop for the night and for some reason I just couldn’t fall asleep, although I was rather tired, so I turned on “Friends” hoping to tire out but no such luck. I’ve been following the late night reruns...

“Christmas In Warrensburg”

This weekend we had the opportunity to travel a little farther from home, we took a trip to the Adirondacks to visit Tim’s parents, It’s always a great time when we go there we love to see the family, relax and the air is so fresh up there. While we were there visiting, his mom, her friend, Nancy and I took Gavin to “Christmas in Warrensburg”. It was a weekend long event where the library, town hall and different churches throughout Warrensburg had little craft fairs set up inside with people selling things...

Finding the Perfect Sitter

Holiday party season is in full swing and I’m sure many of us have taken the time to find the perfect holiday outfit, but what about finding the perfect holiday sitter? As December begins tomorrow we have a number of parties to attend this month to celebrate the holiday season. Some of these parties I dread to even attend, but whether I like it or not I will be there. I was usually the sitter for many of these celebrations in the past years but now with a child of my own I’m in the same boat as all those parents before me, searching for a great sitter. You can’t...

How Do You Give Back?

When the end of the year comes we often get so wrapped up in holiday shopping and holiday parties that we forget to show thanks. Although we should be thankful all year, Thanksgiving and the holidays are a special time to express that thankfulness. I know this time of the year can be especially hard for families trying to plan and buy gifts, but the best gift of all could be giving back to someone else that is more in need than ourselves. Giving back doesn’t always require giving money or material items, giving of our time and ourselves can be more rewarding not only for...
